'Giving You Up' was written and recorded in the summer of 2004 with Brian Higgins and Xenomania for inclusion on Kylie's greatest hits package 'Ultimate Kylie'. The single featured the previously unreleased 'Made of Glass', which was recorded at the same time as the titletrack.

'Giving You Up' was released on 28th March to coincide with Kylie's greatest hits tour 'Showgirl', which Kylie has described as: "...not only a celebration of pop songs and my career, but of a long time relationship with my audience."

Accompanied by an offbeat video featuring a giant Kylie out for a night on the town, 'Giving You Up' reached No.6 on its week of release bringing Kylie's tally of Top 10 hits to 29 and Top 40 hits to 38!
